01 Technical SEO

Technical SEO services for when traffic dropped and nobody can tell you why

It’s almost never a mystery. Traffic falls for a short list of reasons, and every one of them can be checked. I find which one it is, tell you plainly, then fix it. I write the code myself, so the diagnosis and the repair are one job.

— Diagnosis

The usual suspects

Six causes account for most drops. Open the one that sounds like yours: each says what I check and what fixing it involves, so you can judge whether you need me at all.

02 Who it’s for

Who calls me in

Sites that lost traffic

Clicks fell and nobody can say why. You need the cause found and fixed, not a 90-page report of every warning a tool can produce.

Audit with fixes

Sites about to change

A redesign, a new platform or a URL change coming up. Redirects and checks planned before launch are cheaper than recovering afterwards.

Audit with fixes

Agencies and in-house teams

You’ve found the problem and need someone who can fix it in the code, or a second opinion before you tell a client. White-label if needed.

On demand

Probably not the right fit if

  • the site is brand new with no content yet: there’s little for technical SEO to fix
  • you need a developer for features unrelated to search

03 Ways to work together

A report, the fixes, or ongoing care

Most technical work starts with the audit. The difference is who does the fixing.

Audit report

Best for Teams with a developer ready to do the work

The full technical audit, ending in a prioritised fix list with exactly how to fix each item.

  • Crawl, indexing and redirects
  • Core Web Vitals on real templates
  • Prioritised fixes, explained

Free tool · Indexing check

Check whether Google is allowed to index your pages

Put in your home page. This reads up to 50 pages and flags noindex rules, error pages, redirects and canonicals pointing elsewhere: the usual reasons pages go missing.

Pages come from your sitemap, or by following links from the home page if there isn’t one. Results aren’t stored anywhere. Pages built entirely with JavaScript may show as empty, because this reads the HTML your server sends.

04 What’s included

What a technical engagement covers

The audit is the start, not the deliverable. A list of problems you can’t act on is worth very little, so the fixes are made, not emailed to you.

  • A full crawl of the site, at whatever scale it is
  • Index coverage and canonical conflicts
  • Redirect maps for migrations and replatforms
  • Core Web Vitals, page weight and request count
  • Structured data and rich result eligibility
  • Internal linking structure
  • Cannibalisation and duplicate content
  • Mobile rendering and template-level issues

05 How it works

From “something’s wrong” to fixed and checked

  1. 01

    Read the data

Search Console first: what dropped, when, and on which pages. Then a full crawl of the site.

You get The cause, narrowed down

  2. 02

    Diagnose

Match the pattern to its cause: a migration, indexing, speed, duplicates, thin pages or an algorithm update.

    You get A plain-English diagnosis

  3. 03

    Prioritise

Every issue ranked by what it’s costing you and how hard it is to fix. Warnings that don’t matter are left off.

    You get The fix list

  4. 04

    Fix

Made directly on WordPress, Elementor, Shopify or a custom build, not handed to a developer.

    You get The fixes, live

  5. 05

    Check

Once Google has recrawled, confirm the fixes took and the pages are indexed and recovering.

    You get A follow-up report

Where pages get stuck

A page has to clear every stage before it can rank, so the job is finding the one it fails

  1. 01CrawlGoogle finds the URL through links and sitemaps, and robots.txt lets it in.
  2. 02RenderThe page loads fully, including anything built with JavaScript.
  3. 03IndexGoogle chooses to store it: not a duplicate, not noindexed, not thin.
  4. 04RankThen content, links and speed decide where it shows.

07 Questions

Technical SEO questions

What is technical SEO?

Everything that decides whether Google can find, render, understand and index your pages: crawling, indexing, redirects, speed, structured data and site structure. The full guide explains it without the jargon.

What do technical SEO services include?

A crawl and a Search Console review to find what’s wrong, a prioritised fix list, the fixes made on your platform, and a check once Google has recrawled. On a retainer, technical health is then watched every month.

How much do technical SEO services cost?

The full audit with fixes done is £899 ($1,199), or £599 ($799) for the report and how to fix each item. Ongoing technical work is included in retainers from £999 ($1,299) a month.

What’s the difference between technical SEO and an SEO audit?

The audit finds and prioritises the problems. Technical SEO is fixing them and keeping them fixed. The audit page covers the options.

Can I check my site myself first?

Yes. The free noindex checker, robots.txt checker and sitemap checker catch the most common indexing problems in a minute.

Is technical SEO still worth it with AI search?

Yes. AI Overviews draw on pages Google can crawl and index, and Google says there are no extra requirements to appear in them beyond normal SEO. A page that isn’t indexed can’t be cited.

Can ChatGPT do technical SEO?

It can explain a problem or draft a redirect rule. It can’t crawl your site, read your Search Console, or check that a fix worked once Google has recrawled, which is most of the job.

Do you work with businesses outside English-speaking countries?

Yes, often. Many clients are based elsewhere in Europe or further afield and sell to English-speaking customers. I handle the English-facing side of the site (the research, the content and the technical set-up for those markets) alongside your own team. Prices have a pound and a fixed dollar figure, and I can invoice in either.
