Google SERP preview tool
Write a title and description and see roughly how they’ll look in Google, before you publish. Or load a live page to see what it shows now.

See your page the way searchers will
Pull the title and description from a live page, or type your own. The preview updates as you type.
An approximation. Google decides the final wording: it rewrites titles it thinks don’t describe the page, and often writes its own snippet from the page text.
01 How it works
How the preview works
Widths, not just characters
Google cuts titles and descriptions to fit the screen, so a line of wide letters is cut sooner than a line of narrow ones. The preview measures the text in the fonts Google uses and trims it where it’s likely to be cut.
An estimate, clearly marked
Google doesn’t publish its widths. The preview uses the figures most tools work to: about 600px for a desktop title and 920px for a desktop description. Real results vary with screen size.
What to aim for
A title of roughly 50–60 characters that says what the page is. A description that leads with the payoff, speaks to the searcher, and gives them a reason to pick your result.

02 Questions
What people ask
Will Google show exactly this?
Not always. Google may rewrite the title or write its own snippet from the page text, depending on the search. The preview shows what you’re asking it to show.
Why does mobile cut the description sooner?
The screen is narrower, so fewer words fit on each line. Put the most important part of the description first.
Can I check a whole site?
Yes: the meta description checker and title tag checker scan up to 50 pages and include a preview for each.
