Build a campaign link with UTM tags
Source, medium and campaign are the three Google Analytics reads most often. Use lower case and the same spellings every time.

How UTM tags work
Five tags, three that matter
Source is where the link sits (newsletter, facebook). Medium is the type of traffic (email, social, cpc). Campaign is the push it belongs to. Term and content are optional extras.
Be consistent
Analytics treats Email and email as two different things. The builder lower-cases everything and swaps spaces for hyphens so your reports don’t split.
Never on internal links
Tagging links between your own pages overwrites where the visitor really came from. Use UTM tags only on links pointing in from outside.

02 Questions
What people ask
Where do I see the results?
In Google Analytics 4, under Reports, Acquisition, Traffic acquisition. Switch the dimension to session source / medium or session campaign.
Do UTM tags affect SEO?
Not on links from emails, social posts or ads. A canonical tag on the page tells Google the tagged address is the same page.
Do I need them for Google Ads?
No. Google Ads uses auto-tagging, which passes more detail than UTM tags do.
