01 Ecommerce and Shopify SEO

More of your products found on Google, and bought

Online stores rarely fail on one big thing. They leak: filter URLs Google wastes its time on, collection pages with nothing to rank, product data search can't read. I fix the leaks, then build the category and guide content that brings shoppers in, on Shopify, WordPress or a custom build.

02 The problem

Where store traffic usually leaks

Filter and sort URLs

Colour, size and sort options can create thousands of near-identical URLs. Google's own guidance is to keep them from eating your crawl.

Collection pages with nothing on them

A title and a product grid gives Google little to rank and shoppers little to compare. Categories are where most buying searches land.

Product data Google can’t use

Without product structured data, price, availability and reviews don't show in results, and the listing looks worse than a competitor's.

Duplicate products

The same product reachable through several collection paths, variants and old URLs, all competing with each other.

Out-of-stock and discontinued pages

Pages that 404 or redirect to the homepage throw away whatever they had earned. There are better ways to retire a product.

International stores

Several country versions, or several languages, that Google can't tell apart. Hreflang and canonicals have to agree.

03 Who it’s for

Who I work with

Growing Shopify stores

Traffic is steady but the collections that should sell barely rank. You want the leaks fixed and the category pages built out.

Part-time retainer

Stores selling in several markets

Country versions, or several languages, that Google mixes up. I handle the English-language side, and make sure hreflang, currencies and canonicals agree.

Full audit

Agencies with ecommerce clients

You need someone who can fix duplicate URLs and structured data in the theme, white-label.

How a collection gets found

Buying guides answer the questions first, then send shoppers to the collection

05 What’s included

What an ecommerce retainer covers

  • A crawl of the whole store. Every collection, product, filter and old URL, checked against Search Console, so the fixes go where the money is.
  • Crawl and duplicate fixes. Filters, variants, collection paths and canonicals sorted on your platform, not left as a list for a developer.
  • Collection pages that answer buying questions. Copy, comparisons and FAQs on the categories people actually search for, written by a person and kept short enough not to bury the products.
  • Product structured data. Price, availability, reviews and shipping marked up and tested, so listings can show them.
  • Buying guides in clusters. Guides that answer the questions before a purchase and link straight into the right collections.
  • Reporting on the pages that sell. Monthly clicks and positions for product and collection pages, from Search Console, not a vanity dashboard.

08 Questions

Ecommerce and Shopify SEO questions

How much does Shopify SEO cost?

Retainers here are £999 ($1,299) a month part-time or £1,499 ($1,999) full-time, both starting with the full audit included. A one-off full audit is £599 ($799). See pricing.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes, Shopify handles the basics well. The problems are usually self-inflicted: duplicate product paths, filter URLs, thin collection pages and apps that slow the store down. Those are fixable without leaving Shopify.

Can I do Shopify SEO myself?

The basics, yes: unique titles, descriptions and alt text, and a sitemap submitted in Search Console. What usually needs a specialist is duplicate URL handling, structured data, international set-up and a content plan that targets the searches that sell.

Is SEO still worth it for ecommerce with AI search?

Yes. Google states there are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews beyond normal SEO, and product searches still end on a store.

How long does ecommerce SEO take to work?

Technical fixes can move rankings within weeks. Collection and guide content compounds more slowly: expect the curve to bend somewhere between month three and month six.

Can you handle a store that sells in several countries?

Yes. Separate country or language versions need hreflang, currency and canonical tags that agree with each other, and that is work I do rather than refer out.

Do you work with businesses outside English-speaking countries?

Yes, often. Many clients are based elsewhere in Europe or further afield and sell to English-speaking customers. I handle the English-facing side of the site (the research, the content and the technical set-up for those markets) alongside your own team. Prices have a pound and a fixed dollar figure, and I can invoice in either.
