01 SaaS SEO

SaaS SEO services that show up in sign-ups, not just traffic

Most SaaS blogs rank for things nobody buys from. I start at the bottom of the funnel, with the comparison, alternative and use-case searches people make when they are choosing software, fix what stops a JavaScript site being indexed, and report on trials and demos rather than sessions.

02 The problem

Why SaaS SEO often doesn’t pay back

Top-of-funnel traffic only

Hundreds of "what is" posts that bring visitors who will never need the product, while the "[competitor] alternative" searches go to someone else.

Pages Google can’t render

Marketing sites built as single-page apps can hide content from search. Google crawls, renders, then indexes, and each step can fail.

Features without landing pages

Features, integrations and use cases buried in one page, when each is a search someone makes before they buy.

Docs and app pages competing

Help docs, changelogs and app URLs indexed alongside the marketing site, splitting signals and cluttering results.

Reporting in sessions

Traffic totals that never connect to trials, demos or MRR, so nobody can tell whether SEO is working.

Worry that AI search ate it all

AI Overviews change the page, not the fundamentals. Google says no special optimisation is needed to appear in them.

Pages by intent

Comparison and integration pages meet buyers closest to a trial

  1. 01LearnGuides that answer the problem your product solves.
  2. 02Compare“[you] vs [rival]” and “[rival] alternatives” pages.
  3. 03FitIntegration and use-case pages: “works with Slack”.
  4. 04StartPricing and sign-up pages that answer the last questions.

03 Who it’s for

Who I work with

Early-stage SaaS

You need sign-ups, not traffic. Start with the comparison and alternative searches buyers make when they’re choosing.

Part-time retainer

Growing SaaS with a blog

Plenty of posts, few trials from them. The content needs pointing at the searches that convert, and the product pages need building out.

Full-time retainer

JavaScript-heavy sites

Pages Google struggles to render or index. The technical side has to be fixed before content can work.

Full audit

04 Ways to work together

Start with an audit, or go straight to monthly

Both retainers start with the full audit, included. Part-time £999 ($1,299) or full-time £1,499 ($1,999) a month.

Full SEO audit

Best for One specific problem, or a first proper look

Everything checked, ending in a prioritised fix list with how to fix each item. Or I do the fixes and check them once Google has recrawled.

  • Content and Search Console review

05 What’s included

What SaaS SEO services cover here

  • Keyword research from the bottom up. Comparison, alternative, integration and use-case searches first, in every English-speaking market you sell to, each mapped to one page so nothing competes.
  • Technical fixes for SaaS sites. Rendering, indexing, docs and app subdomains, canonicals and speed, fixed on your stack rather than listed in a PDF.
  • Pages that convert. Comparison, alternative, feature and use-case pages written by a person, with honest trade-offs and a clear route to a trial or demo.
  • Content clusters that support them. Guides that answer your buyers’ questions and link to the pages that convert, written for people first.
  • Reporting on sign-ups. Monthly Search Console results for the pages that start trials and book demos, reported against the plan.

Drift caught early, new pages linked into the ones that rank, and competing pages merged.

You get Fixes made, not listed

  5. 05

    A report you can check

Clicks, enquiries and positions from Search Console, what I did and what moved, including what didn’t.

08 Questions

SaaS SEO questions

We’re based outside the UK and US. Can you handle our English site?

Yes, and it’s common with SaaS. Plenty of software companies are based in Germany, the Nordics or elsewhere and sell mostly in English. I take on the English-language side: keyword research for your English-speaking markets, the comparison and use-case pages, and the technical set-up (hreflang included) so each language version ranks in the right place.

What is SaaS SEO?

Search engine optimisation for software companies. The difference from ordinary SEO is where the value sits: comparison, alternative and use-case searches from people choosing software, rather than general traffic.

Is SEO still worth it for SaaS with AI search?

Yes. AI Overviews draw on pages that already rank, and Google states there are no extra requirements to appear in them beyond normal SEO. The searches that lead to a purchase still end on a website.

How long until SEO brings in sign-ups?

Technical fixes can move within weeks. Bottom-of-funnel pages usually start earning trials between month three and month six, depending on how competitive the category is.

Should I hire a SaaS SEO consultant or an agency?

An agency gives you a team and an account manager; a consultant gives you the senior person doing the work. For most SaaS companies without a large content budget, one experienced person running the programme is the better use of money.

How much do SaaS SEO services cost?

Retainers here are £999 ($1,299) a month part-time or £1,499 ($1,999) full-time, both starting with the full audit, which is £599 ($799) on its own. See pricing.
